Everybody likes Butterflies, right?
Dr. Paul Castrovillo, Organizer for Boise Front 4th of July Butterfly Count, will speak to the Idaho Outdoor Association on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the IOA Hall, 3401 S Brazil St, Boise.
He will give information on some Idaho Butterfly Biology and Ecology, a history of their survey and some information on what they’ve observed. Most importantly, he will tell how YOU can become involved in this exciting, fun and scientifically valuable project, as well as talk about some of the other local Citizen Science opportunities happening in our area.
For the past 50 years, data recording the types and numbers of butterflies being found in North America, has been collected annually by Citizen Scientists in roughly 400 locations throughout Canada, the U.S. and northern Mexico. This is a first major step in attempting to understand what is happening in the Butterfly World, how we are impacting it and how we might help improve things. Boise Front has been hosting a survey and furnishing data for 32 years.
This event is free and open to the general public. See you there!
